The dedication of Frederic Amat to his painting has not prevented him from exploring other horizons, moving through life, geography and diverse forms of artistic expression with insatiable curiosity. His paintings evoke memories of North Africa, of New York and Mexico, of India… The most significant retrospective exhibition of his work was shown at the Museo Rufino Tamayo in Mexico City, the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona and the Instituto de America in Santa Fe, Granada, Spain (1993-1994). He has also exhibited in Paris (1976), Milan (1980), Bonn (1981), Berlin (1982), San Francisco (1988) and New York (1984-85, 1987, 1991-92). Between 1996 and 1998 it was possible to see various exhibitions of his ceramic and poster work. In addition, hi has also designed sets and scenery for theatre and dance productions including The Public by Federico García Lorca (with Fabià Puigserver, 1986), Tirano Banderas by Valle-Inclán (1992) and Waiting for Godot by Beckett (directed by Lluís Pasqual, 1999), and has directed, with Cesc Gelabert the production Zum-zum-ka, wich was first presented in 1998, at the 48th Festival of Music and Dance in Granada. In one of his most recent creative excursions, he was to direct the film Journey to the Moon (1998), with a script by Federico García Lorca, and Foc al Càntir (2000), with film script by the poet Joan Brossa. On the occasion of the 50th edition of the Festival of Music and Dance in Granada (2001) he presented, under his own direction and set design, the opera Oedipus Rex by I. Stravinsky and J. Cocteau. Over the last few years he has worked on a number of mural projects: Mural de les Olles (2001), Mural Pits de Gallifa (2002) and the stained glass piece Bestial (2002).
